Personal biography
I grew up in America, and received my BA from Harvard University. I married an Englishman, and we have been mostly based in England, with postings in Denmark and the US. I have been fortunate that, in all the places we’ve lived, I’ve been able to pursue my interest in giving people – young and old – the skills they need to express themselves in writing. I began as an editor for Random House in New York, and later worked as editor for McKinsey & Company both in Copenhagen and London. I have also taught and been involved with programmes addressing social needs in all these countries. I have three grown-up children and a fine batch of grandchildren.
